This weekend, a Chicagoan died after being trapped inside their Tesla following a crash.

Congress MUST pass my SAFE Exit Act to ensure every EV has a manual door release in case of emergencies and prevent these situations in the future.

My thoughts are with the victim and his family.

60 years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rev. Ralph Abernathy were jailed in Birmingham, Alabama, for leading peaceful protests against the city’s ban on “race-mixing.”

Today, we remember Dr. King’s persistence and promotion of nonviolence, even in the face of extreme and physical prejudice.

Every day, guns are stolen from gun dealers and fall into the wrong hands.

That’s why my Federal Firearm Licensee Act expands federal firearms laws to “facilitators” of firearm sales, such as gun show sellers and online marketplaces.

Preventing firearm theft is a step in preventing gun violence.

18 years ago, the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act became law, expanding federal hate crime laws to include those motivated by gender, identity, sexual orientation, and disability.

Reported hate crimes have doubled in the last decade, however.

President Trump has bought up to $17.5 MILLION in oil and gas stocks since the Iran War began.

He also said he does not “give a damn” about Americans’ budgets suffering from high prices.

This war has accomplished nothing other than enriching Trump and Big Oil.
